You may have seen this make floating about on social media but I’m only getting round to blogging it here now as I’ve been run off my feet!
I was in reflective mode when I made this towards the end of December and felt my first post for Wow! of 2020 should be ‘New Year themed’ of sorts.
Despite it’s fairly textured look, it was fairly easy to make. I used Wow!’s fabulous slow drying embossing pad to heat embossing the time swirl (from Visible Image’s ‘Ahead of Our Time’ set) using Wow!’s Black Magic powder. This a gorgeous powder, black with granules of gold and silver that melt to give the most sumptuous colour.
With this heat set, I’ve then used Brusho’s (in Ultramarine and Purple) to create a real ‘whoosh’ of colour and the fabulous thing is the embossing powder just resists it all! Spritz the Brusho’s with water (sparingly) and when dry, add Black Soot Distress Oxide ink pad around the edges. To add to the galaxy effect, spritz on a shimmer mist (I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist) and also splatter on Brushed Pewter Distress Spray Stain.
To add the sentiment (from Visible Image’s ”Somewhere in Time’ stamp set) I made a background using the same Brush colours as before and this time heat embossed over the colour using the same gorgeous Black Magic powder. After trimming them into individual letters, I added some Black Soot around the edges and popped them to one side for now.
I wanted to emphasise the gold in the Black Magic powder and so found these fabulous star stamps (from Visible Image’s ‘Rock Out’ stamp set). Using the Metallic Gold Rich powder, I heat embossed them along the edges and added the trimmed larger stars over the top using foam tape.
With the heat embossing all complete, I decided to add some cheese cloth under the sentiment as I felt it didn’t ‘pop’ enough. If I added it and then heat embossed the gold stars, it also would melt in the heat!
After matting onto card and adhering to a card blank, I added some stamps to the inside of the card as I love to do that. You can’t beat a nice ‘ooh’ when people see you’ve also decorated the inside.
Don’t forget to join us over on the Wow! Embossing Fans Facebook page for monthly challenges. January’s is love themed… so love, Valentines, Weddings, Anniversaries etc… and there is some stinking makes!!
See you all again soon.
