Well hello to you all and a belated Happy Easter!
I’m back with another make for the Visible Image DT today and I’ve gone all watery and deep sea like! Dare to Swim is a stunner of a stamp set and I love (in my little textural way) to grunge it up and add layer upon layer.
Unlike most of my makes, this piece was made directly onto the kraft card blank, whereas I normally use watercolour card (and then matt it onto a card blank) as it holds much more weight.
I began by braying gesso over the card blank to stop the inks I intended to use from just soaking into the card. To add extra texture, I stamped Organics onto tissue paper (using VersaFine Claire in Nocturne) and used a matt gel to adhere to the card.
The Fibres stencil has been added in random areas using a modelling paste. I chose the area of the stencil that had quite small holes (for want of a better word!) as the card is only 7×5″. Using Distress Oxide Spray Stains, I’ve then dripped the inks down the card and spritzed with water to create a watery effect and left to air dry as using heat would cause the card to buckle.
With the background colour in place, I’ve worked into the stencilled areas using Distress Crayons and a water brush and I’ve also used distress crayon on the edge of the card to frame it. Using the seaweed stamp from Dare to Swim, I’ve used green and blue Distress Oxide ink pads to dot it around the bottom of the card and the little grey shoal of fishes is stamped using Archival’s Watering Can ink pad.
The circles on the right are from the gorgeous Live in the Moment set and they’ve been heat embossed using Wows! Vanilla Sparkle Glitter and Ranger’s Glossy Accents has been added to the circles to add an extra watery feel.
The fabulous Jellyfish has been heat embossed onto vellum using Wows! Opaque Bright White and coloured using watercolours before also having some glossy accents added. He’s then been fussy cut out and secured in place over some dyed cheesecloth and et voila! Finished!
And here are the Visible Image products I’ve used for this make…
