Wowsers… what a scorcher!

Phew… it’s past 10pm and it’s still so sticky and hot. The Pupster literally doesn’t know what to do with himself, even more so as the poor sausage managed to lodge a stick in the back of his mouth earlier and I had to pull it out amid his screaming. I hate dogs and sticks! In future he’s only allowed to pick up fluffy things!

Amidst all the heat and sun today, I’ve managed to make a card for a good friend of mine who turns a rather special age on Monday. I’ve kept it off the card as I wasn’t sure how much of a big deal she wants to make of it.

It’s a whopping 8×8″ so looks really effective. I used the pastel ‘Spots and Stripes’ from Docrafts for this as I wanted something summery and light.

The sentiment is stamped onto the paper with the brilliant ‘StazOn’ which is so versatile and dependable. I’ve then re-stamped the image onto different papers and cut out a couple of letters. It’s then been mounted onto stripey paper and the edges have been inked.

The bunting is simply strips of the paper with some jewels added and then threaded on aqua twine. The flowers are one of Tim Holtz’s flower garland and I’ve layered different papers and styles of flower and embellished with a white opaque jewel in the middle. The lace has been threaded on with the help of the fabulous X-Cut ribbon punch. It makes perfectly neat holes for the ribbon and is just a fabulous buy. I felt it needed a touch of colour near the bottom of the card so managed to squeeze in some ruffled green ribbon.

Right, I’m off for a glass of something chilled on the terrace and to give the Pupster a much needed cuddle. See you soon x
